7th Dan Shihan
Michael is the head of Moorooka and Redlands Takemusu Aikido Kai branches and is a 7th Dan Shihan with a wealth of experience. He is a Level 1 MAIA Accredited Coach.
Michael believes that Aikido is a way of purifying mind, body and spirit and his teaching embodies this, guiding his students to be more focused and present in their bodies and to use their Aikido practice to foster and expand their lives.
The Moorooka Dojo is located at 21 Clifton St, Moorooka.
Aikido is a graceful Japanese martial art which aims to restore harmony to conflict situations and is not reliant on physical strength. Aikido is suitable for people of all ages and it provides benefits of positive energy, self-defence, empowerment and inner calm.
Students practice avoiding attacks, maintaining balance and using the attacker’s energy against them. Physical fitness is promoted with constant movements, defensive techniques and falling safely.
Instruction is delivered in a traditional way in a safe, non-competitive learning environment and we practice the dynamic self-defence in an atmosphere of friendship, mutual respect and joy of training.
